This standard applies to general purpose printing bristols and to folding bristols. A standard for permanence of paper is in the course of preparation.
General purpose printing bristols are used for face and back letterpress and offset (lithographic) printing of booklet covers, circulars, annoucements, programs, tickets, etc. Printed matter may include solids and solid reverses, text, line-illustrations and halftones in accordance with its specified surface roughness and uniformity. If long-term use is a concern, the standard for permanence of paper should be used.
Folding printing bristols are used for face and back letterpress and offset (lithographic) printing of booklet covers, file folders, tags, etc., requiring a high degree of durability. If long-term use is a concern the standard for permanence of paper should be used.
